Day Of The Dead (Día De Los Muertos)
Día de los Muertos is a Mexican celebration when families gather to honor the memory of deceased loved ones. Spirits are guided home to enjoy offerings left for them on meticulously crafted altars. Its roots are a fusion of Indigenous and Catholic traditions, particularly practices found in the ancient Aztec empire.

Ofrenda (Self-Guided) Tour
The centuries-old tradition of Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) altars is a meaningful way to show gratitude, celebrate memories, and highlight the best and brightest moments of departed loved ones’ time on earth. The altar (ofrenda) is created with powerful symbolism—each element carries specific meaning. Learn more about Día de los Muertos by visiting uniquely themed altars throughout Historic Market Square shown on the ofrenda map.
